Broad Run Chlorine Contact Piping Project
Install 700′ of 42″ ductile iron piping to provide the needed chlorine exposure time for disinfection. This did not change water quality as disinfection was previously handled in the plant’s storage tank. This only brought the plant into line with DEP standardized requirements for “Entry Point” location.
A portion of the cost was supplemented with assistance from the Franklin County IMPACT! Grant program.
Phase I - Widow Barr Wellfield Development Project
After spending nearly twenty years exploring potential area water sources, the Authority identified 5 new high-quality wells and acquired the Widow Barr Wellfield. These wells should sustain the water needs of Bear Valley customers for decades to come. Permits were received from the DEP to develop 3 of them at this time.
This project is to construct the wells, a well control building and bury pipes to transfer the water to the modern Fort Loudoun WTF for treatment. The remaining 2 wells could potentially be permitted in the future if population growth outpaces projections.
Sollenberger Road Extension Project
This project is to install a 1/4 mile section of main on northern Sollenberger Road. This will complete a loop in northern Hamilton Township increasing water service reliability to residents in the area.
A portion of the cost will be supplemented by State Gaming Funds H2O Grant.
Phase II – Distribution System Improvements
Improve water transmission capacity from the western side of the system to the eastern side along the Route 30 trunk line. Identify areas within the system in need of future improvement.
Phase III – Fort Loudoun WTF Capacity Upgrade
Known Issues to Be Addressed
- Improve water pressure in the higher elevations of Hamilton Township (Warm Spring Rd, Kensington, Hamilton Hills).
- Replace older sections of water mains prone to leaks.
- Improve website and billing system functionality.
