Bear Valley Water Authority takes the quality of our water seriously. Every year around a thousand lab tests are completed by an outside laboratory and reported to the state. This is in addition to the roughly 4,000 lab tests performed by Bear Valley personnel every year. Online instruments at the treatment plants continuously monitor the water for clarity, pH and disinfection. In the unlikely event of a problem, the monitor will shut down the treatment plant before any sub-standard water could even enter the water system.

Currently, the Borough of Chambersburg supplies about half of the water to the system due to a long-standing contract. As a larger system, they are required to perform even more laboratory analysis of the water they produce.
